Hillside Police Arrest 5 in Armed Robbery
Armed Robbery Arrests
Hillside police arrested Darryl D. Anderson-Stoudemi, 22, of Newark and four Newark juvenile males ranging in age from 16 - 17 years old after they robbed a 21 year old man at gun point.
Yesterday, November 28th, at about 8:30 PM police received a call of a robbery with a gun near the intersection of Central Avenue and Conant Street by persons occupying a black 2005 Pontiac Grand Am. Based on the direction of flight officers responded to intercept the subjects at a likely street in Newark. At the intersection of Peshine Avenue and Hunterdon Street Officers Ryan Cruz and Thomas Wingate observed the Pontiac involved in this robbery and stopped the driver.
Following a brief investigation all occupants were placed under arrest for the robbery. The victim had been walking home when the Pontiac stopped; two subjects exited the car and approached him. One of the subjects lifted his sweatshirt and pointed to a handgun tucked inside his waistband. He then reached inside the victim's pockets and removed his wallet containing $25, a smart phone, and a pack of cigarettes. They then got back into the car and fled.
Anderson-Stoudemi is charged with robbery as are the four juveniles that accompanied him. He is being held at Hillside police headquarters pending bail and transportation to the Union County Jail. The four juveniles have been transported to the Union County Juvenile Detention Center.
